History

In an effort to better serve its citizens, Grant County Emergency Services Agencies consolidated to form the Multi Agency Communications Center (MACC)  Through an Interlocal Agreement, MACC was established for the purpose of providing a consolidated public service answering point (PSAP) for all 9-1-1 calls made within the borders of Grant County and dispatching those calls to the proper emergency response team.  Grant County's   E 9-1-1 Plan was submitted to the State of Washington in April, 1994.  The first Interlocal Agreement was signed and the center formed in 1995.  After construction of the administrative building and the communications/radio system completed, dispatch service began in January of 1997.

MACC is governed by a Board of Directors, representing the Emergency Services Agencies, Cities and Towns and the County.

The original Board of Directors consisted of six members:

  • One (1) member from Grant County - County Commissioner or designee.

  • One (1) member appointed by the Association of Grant County Cities and Towns - Mayor, Council Member, or an employee of a Grant County city of town.

  • One (1) member appointed by the Police Chiefs of the Cities and Towns of Grant County - Police Chief of a Grant County City or Town.

  • One (1) member appointed by the Grant County Fire Chief's and Commissioner's Association - Fire Chief of a Grant County City or Town or a Fire Chief or Fire Commissioner of a Grant County Fire District.

  • One (1) member appointed by the Grant County EMS Council - Emergency Medical Technician from an agency that provides patient transport.

  • One (1) member from the Grant County Sheriff's Office - Grant County Sheriff or designee.

In 2002, the Interlocal Agreement was revised to include a Board member from the largest City or Town - Mayor, Council Member, or an employee of that City or Town.  Moses Lake is currently holding this seat.

Each agency or entity represented by a Board Member, appoints an alternate member to act on their behalf of their appropriate member organization.  Alternate members have full powers to vote and act as a Board member at all meetings.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors is elected annually at the January Board Meeting and is able to vote.
